CANIRON VIII BLACKSMITHING CONFERENCE

Hello Everyone,
This is a short advance notice to announce that the Ontario Artist Blacksmith Association will be hosting the CanIRON VIII Blacksmithing Conference in Fergus, Ontario, Canada in 2011.

The preliminary list of demonstrators and presenters includes:

There may be an experimental Viking Age smelt conducted by members of the Dark Ages Recreation Company (DARC) - Darrell Markewitz, Dave Cox, Kevin Jarbeau, with Neil Peterson and Ken Cook.

STUDENTS
Are you interested in learning the advanced skills of restoration work? If so the NHIG’s Heritage Blacksmith Bursaries project will offer practical skill based training in the conservation of historic ironwork to semi-skilled blacksmiths over the age of 19 years delivered in a workshop environment.

The William Morris Craft Fellowship
...is an award scheme which broadens the skills and experience of trained craftsmen involved in historic building repairs.
