Book review: #150mmchallenge

The use of hashtags and social media allowed Ambrose, an artist blacksmith, to turn a personal challenge into an opportunity for blacksmiths around the world to play, challenge themselves, share their skills, and be part of something unique.

"The challenge was to create something out of a small piece of 20mm square bar, and the response was phenomenal."

Instagram was used to share the work and send it to Hereford for an exhibition. The book contains 330 beautifully photographed full-color images, with each piece presented as an individual artwork. Oliver Cameron-Swan’s photography gives a monochromatic feel to the work, highlighting the natural burnished color of forged steel.

The complexity of the forge work is apparent in each image, with a diverse range of shapes and forms created by the blacksmiths.
